Lake Garda: The Undiscovered Wedding Destination You NEED to Know About

Steeped in rich history, overflowing with romantic landscapes, and rich in charming architecture, Italy offers a magical setting for couples looking to tie the knot. Whether you're in the picturesque canals of Venice, the rolling vineyards of Tuscany or the glistening shores of Lake Como, Italy's diverse regions provide a plethora of breathtaking backdrops.

The above destinations are usually at the top of everyone's list and rightly so.

Who isn’t dreaming of a grand palace wedding in Venice, a rustic wedding in a Tuscan vineyard or a luxury villa wedding on Lake Como?! Perhaps due to the fame of the aforementioned locations, the ever-impressive Lake Garda is often overlooked, however, we are going to give you 3 top reasons why this stunning and unique location should be right at the top of your list:

Great Transport Links

Often, a big consideration when planning a destination wedding is how easy it will be for all your guests to get there, especially when you have guests travelling from all over the globe. Strategically nestled in the centre of Northern Italy, Lake Garda is spoiled with transport options. The nearest airport to the east of the lake is Verona, where a 30-minute drive will have you sitting with an Aperol Spritz, watching the world go by in the walled towns of Peschiera or Lazise. To the west of the lake, is Milan Bergamo Airport, 50 minutes by car to the largest town on the lake, Desenzano and a huge Ryanair hub. Venice Marco Polo Airport is an hour and 25 minutes away and the perfect airport for International travellers from America and further afield. If that wasn't enough, there are also, 2 train stations that run into two key lake towns, Desenzano del Garda & Peschiera del Garda. No matter how you're arriving you and your guests, have plenty of choices available.

Diverse Locations

You will be amazed at the variety of venues Lake Garda has to offer to host your wedding day, weekend or even week (!) but no matter how big or small your venue checklist is, Lake Garda can almost certainly accommodate. From a rustic vineyard celebration to a grand luxurious villa party, a memorable and historic castle ceremony or a super exclusive day on a private island, what you can guarantee is that Lake Garda has a wide range of options that suit every style.

Stunning Scenery

It's not often you find somewhere that will tick every box in terms of landscape and scenery, but Lake Garda is one of those unique locations that can. Finding the perfect backdrop for your wedding is somewhat easy at Lake Garda, the crystal clear glistening water can be captured from the shore or on a boat. Lake Garda, is often referred to as the gateway to The Dolomite Mountains and therefore is surrounded by dramatic peaks which provide the WOW factor for all your wedding photos. Being in the heart of the biggest wine-producing region in Italy, the lake is inundated with rolling vineyards and olive groves, and if that still isn't enough there is an extensive selection of villas and estates with immaculately maintained gardens boasting designed hedgerows, exotic flowers and ancient trees. It’s fair to say that your wedding backdrop will be nothing short of spectacular.
