Budget!

Regarded as one of the most sought-after destinations to get married, Italy's romantic allure can be hard to resist. From the rolling vineyards of Tuscany to the charming villages of Lake Garda, right down to the stunning Amalfi Coast, the country offers an idyllic canvas for all styles of weddings. Moreover, the temptation of indulging in authentic Italian cuisine and wine amidst such splendour only adds to the allure of tying the knot here.

Many couples are drawn to Italy for more than just its romantic appeal; there's a prevailing belief that weddings here come with a more manageable price tag. Yes, Italy can offer you the opportunity to save money on certain aspects of your overall budget, but knowing where to find these is key. In this blog, we give you 3 top tips to help rein in unnecessary expenses.

1. CHOOSE VENUES WITH AN IN-BUILT PLAN B

Italy is a popular choice for destination weddings due to its hot Mediterranean summers and iconic architecture. Grand hotels, luxurious villas, medieval castles the list is never-ending, guaranteeing a selection of stunning venues to choose from. Cantina's are another popular venue of choice with stunning vineyards for a sunset wedding dinner and the backdrop of rolling hills to party in, however, whilst these options are rich in outdoor space, they often lack venue space inside, and we all know that however hot Mediterranean summers get, it doesn’t guarantee it will not rain!

Therefore, it's wise to consider a venue that has a good contingency plan in place and that you don't need to pay extra for. When looking at venues, speak to owners to find out what Plan B option they have in place and if they will charge an additional cost for the privilege of using it, once you have all the upfront costs for venue hire (including your plan B option) it will be easier to allocate the remaining budget to other items on your list.

2. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

Florals and decor are 2 areas that can really push your budget up depending on how big you decide to go. Getting bouquets and buttonholes for the bridal party are a reasonable addition to your wedding day. Florals on your tables are beautiful but certainly increase your budget significantly, especially if you have 100 guests you are looking at a minimum of 10 tables to dress.

The beauty and charm of Italy is how rustic the country is with nature and local produce at the forefront. Dressing your tables with olive branches, rosemary and lemons, which can be sourced locally is a stunning alternative adding colour and elegance to your tables, the lemons can even be reused by the open bar at night for the party. Your wedding planner can help you be creative and think outside the box to give your wedding that touch of class without the premium price tag.

3. KEEP IT LOCAL

Finding the right suppliers can be daunting, but opting for local talent can streamline costs and eliminate unnecessary expenses. Rather than scouring through endless Instagram feeds, rely on your planner's expertise to connect you with reputable local vendors.

Choosing local suppliers not only minimizes transportation and additional accommodation costs but also fosters a sense of community support. By investing in local businesses, you contribute to the vibrant tapestry of Italy's wedding industry, while keeping your budget in check.

Extra Tip: As you embark on your wedding planning journey, don't underestimate the importance of setting a realistic budget and sticking to it. This isn't just about crunching numbers; it's about clarity, discipline, and ultimately, protecting your financial well-being. By establishing a clear budget from the start, you'll be able to make informed decisions, prioritize what truly matters to you, and avoid unnecessary stress down the line. It's not always easy, but sticking to your budget will ensure your wedding day is a wonderful celebration without any lingering worries about overspending or financial conflicts. The investment in setting a solid budget will pay off in the long run, allowing you to focus on what truly matters – your love and commitment to each other.
